About Us

Some things cannot be rushed. The rhythm of a loom, the patience of a weaver's hands, the quiet transformation of thread into something luminous — these things take time. At Sri Rohini Silks, we have had over seventy years to understand this.

What began as a single store on the streets of Bangalore has grown, across three generations of one family, into a name that saree lovers trust — not just across India, but around the world. The looms have changed. The city around us has changed. But our belief in authentic handwoven silk, and the artisans who create it, has never wavered.

Rooted in Bangalore for Over Seven Decades

Sri Rohini Silks opened its doors in Bangalore, Karnataka, India at a time when the city was quieter, the streets narrower, and a good silk saree was something you chose with great care and kept for a lifetime. Our founder understood that silk was not simply fabric — it was a statement of occasion, of identity, of love passed from mother to daughter.

Through the decades that followed — through India's independence, through Bangalore's transformation into a global city, through the rise of fast fashion and the quiet resilience of handloom — the store stood. Each generation inherited not just the business, but the relationships: with the weavers of Karnataka, with the Banarasi karigars of Varanasi, with the Ikat masters of Odisha who have been supplying us for decades.

Today, the third generation carries this forward — with the same values, and a new ambition: to make these extraordinary textiles available to every woman who loves them, wherever in the world she may be.

Three Generations, One Promise

The first generation built the trust. They sourced only what they would drape on their own family, and their customers knew it. The second generation deepened the relationships — travelling to weaving villages, understanding the labour behind every border and butta, expanding the collection while keeping quality non-negotiable.

The third generation brings Sri Rohini Silks online — not to replace what came before, but to honour it by sharing it further. Because the women in Houston and Helsinki and Hong Kong who love Indian silk deserve the same access to authenticity that customers in Bangalore have had for seventy years.

Three generations. One store. One promise: you will always receive exactly what you were told you are getting.

What We Stand For

Authenticity above everything. Every saree in our collection is handwoven. We know our weavers personally — many of whom have supplied us across two and three generations themselves. When we say handwoven, we mean it, and we can tell you exactly who made it and where.

Seventy years of sourcing knowledge. Decades of relationships with weaving clusters across India mean we can spot quality that a new buyer cannot. That expertise now works for you, whether you are buying your first silk saree or your fiftieth.

The artisan at the centre. India's master weavers are among the most skilled craftspeople on earth. We have always paid fairly, ordered consistently, and credited their craft. The quality you receive is inseparable from the dignity of the hands that created it.

A saree for every occasion and every woman. From lightweight everyday cotton weaves to heirloom-quality Banarasi silks, our collection spans the full range — because every woman's relationship with a saree is her own.

For the Indian Diaspora, With Love

We know what it means to search for something that feels like home. Whether you are dressing for Diwali in Dallas, a wedding in Dubai, or a family celebration in Melbourne — finding a saree you can truly trust, from a name with real heritage behind it, is no small thing.

Sri Rohini Silks ships internationally to over 25 countries. Every order is carefully packed, tracked, and backed by our customer promise — the same promise we have kept in Bangalore for over seven decades: if something is not right, we will make it right.

Our Bangalore store was built on word of mouth. One satisfied customer told another. We are bringing that same spirit online — and trusting that the quality of what we send you will do the talking.

The Fabric Is the Story

A Banarasi saree carries within it the city of Varanasi at dawn — a weaver's family working side by side, centuries of Mughal-influenced design motifs refined into something modern enough to wear today and timeless enough to pass on tomorrow.

A Mysore silk saree — woven in our own home state of Karnataka — is among the purest expressions of Indian textile tradition: lustrous, lightweight, and recognisable by its signature finish that no machine has ever managed to replicate.

An Ikat saree is the mathematics of resist-dyeing: threads dyed in precise sequence before they are even woven, so the pattern emerges only at the moment the shuttle passes. It is controlled chance made beautiful.

When you wear Sri Rohini Silks, you wear all of this. Seventy years of knowing where to find it. Three generations of caring enough to bring it to you honestly.
